Aunt Hazel

My Aunt Hazel

For this layout I used Blue Fern Studios papers for the background and doily die-cuts.

These are the dies and punch I used:

English Tea Party Doily
Cheery Lynn Designs
Polynesian Sails Doily
Martha Stewart
Eyelet Lace
Tattered Lace
Peach Sorbet Crescent

As usual, I layered the die-cuts over a black version and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Dusty Attic
Grass Clusters #2

I painted the grass clusters green and then brushed on watery layers of darker and lighter greens to add dimension.

For the metal corner pieces and butterfly, I applied a thick glaze of matte gel and brown paint and  wiped off the excess with a paper towel.  I then rubbed some pale pink paint overtop with my fingertip.

Esther and the Girls

My great-great aunt Esther (front, left)

For this layout I used a piece of Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper from the Wallflower collection as the background.

I trimmed the edges of the paper slightly, misted them with water and distressed the edges using my fingers.  I then inked the edges lightly with Fawn Colorbox Chalk ink.

This is the die set I used.

Spellbinders
Romantic Rose

I layered the die-cuts over a dark brown copy and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges.

The white lace pieces were misted with Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist to tone down the brightness and "antique" them.

To antique the Prima resin pieces, I applied a glaze of matte gel mixed with a dab of brown paint and then wiped off the excess.

Using my finger, I rubbed pale pink paint over the metal pieces to highlight the raised areas. I added a little extra paint to the tips of the rose in the center with a paintbrush.

Bernadette and Joe's Wedding

My niece Bernadette and her husband Joe on their wedding day

For this layout I dug way back into my stash looking for the perfect paper and found this one by Prima from their Cavalier collection.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Dusty Attic
Corner Flourish #2

Duty Attic
Fancy Trim #7

I primed the corner flourish and applied Viva Decor white crackle paint.  When that was dry, I sprayed it with green and brown mists (can't remember the exact colours as I had this already finished in my stash from months ago for another layout that I didn't end up using it for).

I heat-embossed the Fancy Trim #7 with Stampendous Shabby White embossing enamel.

The clay piece on the bottom right was made with a mold and Sculpey Ultra Light.  I painted it, dry brushed lighter colours overtop and then sprayed it with Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist.

Me in 2010

Me in 2010

For this layout I used two pieces of an Ella and Viv woodgrain patterned paper (one for the main background and the other for the photo mat and the outer mat under the punched borders).  I had originally planned to use a different Ella and Viv paper called "Square Space" from their Modern Art collection but I found it hard to work with the busy pattern of it.  The colours I used were based on the "Square Space" paper.

I did some stencilling on the background using a Clarity stencil brush and a dark purple ink.  I used the same ink (applied directly with the ink pad) around the edges of the punched perimeter.

Ornate

These are the dies and punches I used:

Cheery Lynn Designs
Daphne Doily
Tattered Lace

Cheery Lynn Designs
Carnivale Border
My Favorite Things
Mini Delicate Doilies
Cheery Lynn Designs
Flourish #13
Martha Stewart

EK Success
Scalloped Scallop

I inked around the photo mat and around the inner edge of the punched area with an orangey-brown ink.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Creative Embellishments
Celtic Border 1

Wycinanka
Ptele Trele 9

I liked the pale colour of the Wycinanka pieces so I left them plain.  I heat-embossed the Celtic Border with Stampendous Aged Ivory embossing enamel.
